Jon Rahm is in the Hawaiian Islands this week, where many PGA Tour heavyweights traditionally begin their seasons.
He did that last year.
He started the 2023 season by defeating Collin Morikawa in the final round of the Sentry, earning his first of four wins of the year.
However, Rahm decided to join LIV Golf on December 7th and will not play this time.
Still, he Vacationing on Maui Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press reported this week. Kapalua's Plantation Course, which hosts the annual Sentry, is located on the northwest tip of Maui.
This tournament is historically one of the biggest tournaments of the season, as all players who won the previous calendar year's tournament participate. The field also includes the top 50 players in the previous season's FedEx His Cup rankings.
Several top players have had encounters with Rahm, and Ferguson reports that the interactions were “somewhere between warm and cold.”
Still, the online interactions surrounding this development have been all-but-interesting.
