Jon Reddick’s Journey with Fear and Music
Jon Reddick, the artist behind the chart-topping song There’s No Fear, has found a way to connect with his audience through shared experiences of fear and anxiety. This track, which surged to the top of Billboard’s Christian Airplay Chart in May, is the title song from his second album.
In the song, Reddick openly expresses his struggle, stating that fear was holding him back in life and affecting his ability to trust others. He describes embarking on a journey to confront this fear.
Earlier this year, his wife, Rebecca, faced a battle with early-onset colon cancer, but she underwent a successful operation. Reddick reflected on how he was singing My Own during those overwhelming times. “I was trying to be strong for her and our seven children,” he explained, noting that his wife is an incredible source of strength for him.
He shared, “God came through and healed her, which isn’t everyone’s story. But it’s showing us new perspectives.” Fans have begun reaching out, sharing how the song has impacted them. One young fan, inspired by her own battle, mentioned she named her child John as a show of strength. Others have connected with Reddick, expressing how his music found them during their own difficult times.
Reflecting on his career, Reddick admitted that he once considered leaving music altogether. Then, Grammy-winning artist Sheryl Crow stepped in, believing that God was directing him to continue. “I felt like I was ready to quit,” he recalled, but Crow’s encouragement reignited his passion.
Reddick dabbled in other career paths, including computer science, but felt a pull back to music. He believes he has a purpose to unite people through worship, one he intends to pursue for as long as he can.
Support from Sheryl Crow
It’s interesting how unexpected support can change the course of one’s life. Reddick’s story serves as a reminder of the power of encouragement and the strength of faith in overcoming challenges.
