John Taffer Sues Impersonator
John Taffer, known from “Bar Rescue,” has reportedly taken legal action against a man named Vic Caroleo, who allegedly impersonated him on multiple occasions.
The lawsuit, filed with assistance from his attorney, Bradford Cohen, claims that Caroleo has been pretending to be Taffer since 2017. This continued even after Taffer first sued him in 2024. Reports suggest that Taffer accuses Caroleo of harassing people in Florida while using his name, seeking $50,000 in damages. The court documents include allegations that Caroleo engaged in “inappropriate and abusive conduct against a woman” while pretending to be Taffer.
In one case, a woman was said to have retained a lawyer, claiming she was assaulted by Taffer in 2020. However, it was determined that Caroleo was the actual perpetrator after she spent a significant amount on legal fees. Taffer’s team was contacted in 2024 regarding this impersonation, where evidence like a credit card supposedly in Taffer’s name was presented to the woman, who described Caroleo as “very troublesome and inappropriate.”
Taffer alleges that Caroleo mimicked him online and even tried to win the trust of his victims using the credit card with Taffer’s name. It’s baffling how someone could go to such lengths, right?
According to reports, Taffer and Caroleo had a prior agreement in 2024. The impersonator promised to stop using Taffer’s identity, but the problematic behavior persisted.
The lawsuit seeks intervention from Collier County, Florida, to put an end to Caroleo’s actions, stating that the ongoing impersonation has severely damaged Taffer’s personal and professional reputation.
Taffer is well-known for his role in “Bar Rescue,” where he revitalizes struggling bars and restaurants through renovations, staff retraining, and even helping owners facing property issues.
