Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana) refused to endorse Kamala Harris’s presidential bid on Thursday after saying her election was more important than his own reelection as Montana’s senator.

“I’m not going to endorse the president, and I’ll tell you why. There are two reasons: I’m focused on my own election, and secondly, people want to make this a national issue, but this is not a national issue. This is a Montana issue,” Tester said.
The Montana Democrat made it clear on Wednesday that Harris’ own reelection is more important after backing calls for President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

“Mine isn’t important. It’s the one at the top. There’s a lot at stake here. Democracy is at stake, rural America is at stake, how we treat each other is at stake. A lot is at stake,” the Montana Democrat said. said during a rally in Missoula.
