Shifts in Relationship Between Obama and Biden
In a recent interview, ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl suggested that the dynamics between former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden are changing, hinting at a potential fall from grace for both leaders. Karl discussed this topic with podcaster Katie Couric, noting an incident where both men were seen at Cafe Milano in Washington, D.C. Although they were at the same restaurant, security kept them apart and they didn’t interact at all.
Couric expressed surprise at this situation, questioning the current status of their relationship. Karl indicated it wasn’t a good sign, stating that Biden and his associates have criticized Obama for seeming to push him out of the race.
On the podcast, which aired on November 6, he remarked, “It’s really bad.” He described a past fundraiser scenario where Biden appeared weak after Obama pulled him off stage, an incident causing unrest within Biden’s camp.
As they were both in the restaurant, Karl noted, “If they had wanted to meet, they definitely would have.” He recounted how Biden’s calls for support for Kamala Harris came up around the same time, drawing parallels to previous events.
Karl recalled feelings of surprise regarding Biden’s failure to reach out to Obama after the latter attempted to contact him. “He didn’t call him then,” he mentioned, portraying a relationship that seems somewhat strained, with weeks of silence between the two.
Couric remarked on the dysfunction, reflecting on how the partnership has changed over time. Efforts to contact the offices of both leaders for comments went unanswered.
