Jonathan Majors to sit down in first interview since guilty verdict

Former Marvel star Jonathan Majors will appear on “Good Morning America” next week in his first interview since being found guilty of assaulting then-girlfriend Grace Jabari.

The 34-year-old was interviewed by ABC News Live's Lindsey Davis, who is scheduled to appear on Monday morning's show.

Additional segments will air on “GMA 3” and an expanded version of the interview will air later in the day on Davis' ABC News live show “Prime.” IMPACT x Nightline will also feature his 30-minute special featuring unaired segments, which will air exclusively on Hulu on January 11th.

The sit-down interview took place just weeks after Majors was fired from ABC and Marvel's parent company Disney following his guilty verdict.

Majors was found guilty on Dec. 18 of one count of third-degree assault and one count of harassment, but was acquitted of another count of assault and one count of aggravated harassment.

He was arrested on March 25 after getting into a domestic altercation with Jabari while riding home in a taxi from a Brooklyn bar.

Jabari, a 31-year-old dancer from Britain, accused Majors of slapping her, breaking her finger, twisting her arm and punching her right ear, causing it to bleed.

However, Majors told police at the scene that he suspected she had attempted suicide or overdosed.

The jury believed Majors assaulted Jabari recklessly, but it was unintentional.

Additionally, the jury did not believe he intentionally harassed her inside the car, but believed he did pick her up outside the car and put her back inside.

“It is clear that the jury did not believe Grace Jabari's story about what happened inside the SUV because they determined that Mr. Majors did not intentionally cause her injury. We are grateful for that,” Majors' attorney Priya Chaudhry said following the verdict.

“However, we are disappointed that even though we do not believe Mr. Jabari, the jury found that Mr. Majors was somehow reckless while attacking Mr. Jabari.”

“Mr. Majors would like to thank God, his family, friends, and fans for their love and support during this harrowing eight months.”

“Mr. Majors still believes in the process and looks forward to once and for all clearing his name.”

But Jabari's lawyer, Ross Kramer, also released a statement saying he was “pleased to see justice served.”

“MS. Although it was clearly painful to relive these traumatic events on the witness stand, Jabari publicly testified to the truth,” he said. According to The Independent.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg also released a statement saying his office is “committed to keeping survivors at the center of all our work.”

“The evidence presented throughout this trial demonstrates a cycle of psychological and emotional abuse and a pattern of escalating coercion that is all too common in the many intimate partner violence cases we see every day. ” he said.

“Today, the jury determined that a pattern of abuse and coercion culminated in Mr. Majors' assault and harassment of his girlfriend. We would like to thank the survivor who had the courage to tell her story despite what she faced.”

After making his role debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumia, Majors was cast as Kang the Conqueror, the most important villain in the upcoming Marvel movies. Both seasons of “Loki” are similar.

He is also signed to appear as a time-traveling supervillain in Avengers: Kung Dynasty in 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.

The fifth Avengers movie is currently only being referred to as “Avengers 5,'' as it is still in the script stage and a director has not been decided. According to The Hollywood Reporter.

It's unclear whether Marvel will recast the role (which could prove difficult given the baggage created by Major) or rewrite future projects for another Marvel villain.

Major is scheduled to be sentenced on February 6th.
