“Home Improvement” actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas was reportedly detained in Westlake Village, California, after allegedly resisting a police officer on Monday.
Court documents show that Thomas was taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station, where he was booked and later released.
According to law enforcement sources, Thomas was in a vehicle that police had stopped. It seems that deputies instructed him to remain inside, but he reportedly got out anyway. There were also claims that he was under the influence at the time.
As per statements made to a magazine, the driver of the vehicle was being held for a DUI investigation. It appears that during this process, Thomas left the car, which the deputies had advised against. They reported that he was uncooperative and didn’t follow their directions, which led to his arrest for obstruction and public intoxication.
This incident occurred shortly after Thomas had a rare reunion with his “Home Improvement” co-stars Patricia Richardson and Taran Noah Smith. In July, Richardson shared a nostalgic reunion photo featuring herself with Thomas and Smith, reminding fans of the beloved sitcom that ended over 25 years ago.
During the series, which ran for eight seasons, Richardson portrayed Jill Taylor while Thomas and Smith played her sons, Randy and Mark Taylor. Zachery Ty Bryan rounded out the family as their elder brother, Brad.
The reunion gave fans a chance to see Thomas again, who has mostly stayed away from Hollywood after enjoying significant fame in the 1990s. He became a household name as Randy Taylor and was also the voice of young Simba in Disney’s “The Lion King.”
Interestingly, despite his rapid rise to stardom, Thomas decided to step back from acting when he was at the peak of his career. He mentioned wanting a break to experience school and travel, feeling like he’d been working continuously since childhood.
Thomas departed from “Home Improvement” during its last season, with his character relocating to Costa Rica. Although he has kept a low profile, he did make a brief return to television, working again with Tim Allen on “Last Man Standing” from 2013 to 2015, where he directed a few episodes and appeared in four.
