“I recently spent five weeks in India undergoing an Ayurvedic detox called Panchakarma, and I'm happy to say things are trending,” Toews, 36, said. wrote on Instagram.

As previously reported, Toews has been suffering from symptoms of COVID-19 for many years.

He missed the entire 2021-22 and 2023-24 seasons, and last played for the Blackhawks in 2022-23.

In the final year of his contract, Toews, now 34, scored 15 goals and 31 points in 53 games.

These accomplishments over 15 NHL seasons don't do justice to Toews' prolific career.

Along with Patrick Kane, Toews was an integral part of Chicago's dynasty, which won three Stanley Cups in six years in the mid-2010s.

He scored 883 points during his tenure and won multiple awards, including the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2010.

Considering the center hasn't officially announced his retirement, it's possible the healing journey is part of a larger plan to get back on the ice.

“This system is [Ayurveda]”We believe that our bodies are delicate ecosystems that are influenced by everything we consume: energy, information, thoughts, emotions, and food,” Toews writes. Create space for stillness and tune in to the rhythms of nature.

“Ayurvedic wisdom has taught me that I am responsible for everything I experience. Not only has it taught me better food choices for my body type, but it has also taught me to take better care of myself and those around me. My intuitive relationship with the world has also deepened.”
