Jonathan Turley Discusses How Judges Stopping Trump Are ‘Weakening Their Rulings’

Judicial Challenges to Trump’s Policies

Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, commented on Tuesday about federal judges blocking President Donald Trump’s policies, suggesting this could be grounds for appealing their rulings.

Various federal district judges have issued nationwide injunctions that affect Trump administration policies, tackling issues from illegal immigration to funding for Harvard University and government shutdowns. During discussions on “Fox and Friends,” Turley, alongside Lawrence Jones, noted that remarks from some judges during hearings could undermine the credibility of their decisions.

“In some instances, these judges might inadvertently weaken their own rulings,” Turley stated. He recalled the National Guard case with Judge Breyer, who, just before a protest, likened Trump’s actions to those of King George III, echoing political sentiments that, according to Turley, detract from the judicial process.

“Such observations can seriously harm the court’s credibility,” Turley added.

On May 15, the Supreme Court held a special session to discuss the use of national injunctions. This session was prompted by a Presidential Order from Trump concerning birthright citizenship issued upon his inauguration on January 20.

Following unrest tied to actions by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), Trump deployed 700 Marines to bolster the security forces on June 9.

In response to this situation, some Democrats have called for ICE to halt its operations in the Los Angeles area in an effort to “restore order” there.

In related news, a video surfaced on social media on June 7 showing individuals throwing rocks at vehicles belonging to FBI and federal law enforcement. A $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to arrests in this case.
