Raiders’ Trade Sparks Reactions
In a surprising move, the Las Vegas Raiders have been left reeling after Raheem Mostert traded Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mostert shared his thoughts on social media, describing it as a “hot take” after the trade details emerged. The transaction involved not only Smith and Jalen Ramsey but also included Minka Fitzpatrick and some draft picks.
“Hot Take: Become a professional dolphin bourer and be treated like an s,” Mostert commented, expressing his discontent.
Mostert had previously played with the Dolphins from 2022 to 2024, achieving a standout Pro Bowl season in 2023, where he accumulated 1,012 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, leading the league. However, injuries plagued him in the 2024 season, limiting him to just 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
After signing with the Raiders in the offseason, Mostert is expected to have Brock Bowers as one of his primary targets along with quarterback Geno Smith. The backfield will also feature rookie Ashton Jeanty, adding to the team’s dynamics.
Conversely, Jonnu Smith is navigating his career with yet another club, marking his fourth team in four years and fifth team in nine years. He had a notable 2024 season, earning Pro Bowl recognition for the first time after tallying 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns— either career highs or tied for them.
Despite the turmoil, Miami concluded its season with an 8-9 record, falling short of the playoffs for the first time in two years. It’s a curious turn of events, one that might raise questions about the direction both players are heading. Amid the chaos of trades and seasonal shifts, one wonders how these changes will really affect the teams in the long run.
