Jordan Love wants a new deal from the Packers and that makes total sense

Football season is back.

It’s finally time for training camps for various NFL teams. As if that wasn’t enough, last week College Football 25 And all feels right in the world again.

Sure, baseball is back from the All-Star break, the Olympics are starting, the Premier League is back on track, and the Open Championship took place last weekend.

But football is king and, as always, we’ll dwell on it.

Welcome to this week’s skinny post. Let’s get started.

Patrick Mahomes made the CFB25 a priority at the start of camp.

RJ:

As we’ve mentioned, training camps are officially underway across the league, but not every team is in. If you’ve ever been to an NFL training camp, you know it has a summer camp feel to it.

This is because players from some teams often stay in the same area. There are no bunk beds or anything like that, but when everyone is together, Bug Juice This is one of those millennial youth shows that somehow hasn’t been rebooted.

Even if you spend most of your time practicing football, these parts can get a little boring. That’s why Patrick Mahomes made sure he didn’t miss the new CFB 25 video game. According to Pete Sweeney of SB Nation, Mahomes brought a TV to camp for the first time, partly to see if he could play.

The Olympics are important and I am excited to see Scott Hanson. Gold Zone But close your eyes and think back to your college dorm days and remember when you held a stick in an NCAA, FIFA or Madden tournament — the Chiefs are trying to experience that for real as professional athletes.

I personally play three games. Arizona So maybe I’m already behind Mahomes and his teammates in terms of playing time, but it’s refreshing to know that NFL players are just like us in more ways than we might think.

Michael:

The last time I had a chance to play for my favorite college program, the majority of the people playing were still kids or teenagers, so it’s really awesome to see how beloved College Football 25 is. As someone who works in the football media industry, it’s great to see not only the players, but the majority of our peers, picking up the game from day one and not letting it go.

Am I playing college football 25 right now? Virginia Tech As the Old Dominion? The world may never know.

But seriously, there are a lot worse things to do than playing virtual football in their free time as professional athletes, allowing them to work on their mental processes and keep their competitive spirit burning while also recovering physically.

I’m here for the Olympics too. To be honest, I would do the exact same thing as Mahomes, but if I had his amount of money, I’d buy an entire room just for my TV (yes, not just one, I’d have multiple). One room to sleep, and one to watch the Olympics with my teammates. Bang. Done. Training camp cheat code.

The NFL will be adopting a new structure for kickoffs, which should be an exciting change for a league that doesn’t like anything “new.”

Michael:

“That’s why I’m so excited about this change. On a one-year trial basis, the NFL will be modifying its kickoff structure to mimic what the XFL league implemented during the 2020 and 2022 seasons.

Both teams kick off at their own 30-yard lines and start five yards apart on opposite sides of the field. The kicking team lines up perfectly on the 35-yard line, and the receiving team faces the other 30-yard line. Neither team moves until the returner catches the ball.

This change will be welcomed by anyone looking to make the game safer and bring some excitement to a previously staid play. What I like most about this change is that there is only one defensive line and one kicker. If the special teams coordinator can find a way to break through this play, it could lead to some very exciting plays. With teams essentially bunched up in a very small area, teams may prioritize their best player with speed and size (or lack thereof) to slip through the gaps, as that alone will essentially stop any long returns.

One mistake and potentially it could happen. Isn’t that pretty cool? I think so.

RJ:

What I love about the new kickoff is that we literally know nothing.

The common sense and ideas we have may be extremely valuable or they may be completely worthless. Absolute speed may not be such a big asset, as patience and willingness to wait for blocks to develop may be the game changer.

As Dallas Cowboys Fans, what I am sure of is that John Fassel (the Cowboys special teams coordinator, if you don’t know him) will do everything in his power to take advantage of this new reality. After all, he was part of the group that proposed the format to the league’s owners, and did a good enough job of getting them to vote.

bring it on.

Jordan Love will not practice until new contract is signed

RJ:

On Monday morning, some interesting news was reported. Green Bay Packers We won’t be able to see quarterback Jordan Love practice until he signs a new contract with the team. Sorry, Shaggy.

That might sound dramatic, but it seems inevitable that Love and the Packers will get this done after all. From the way Green Bay is talking, it sounds like they want nothing more than to pay Love big money. It would surely be nice to find a franchise quarterback on the way.

But Jordan Love is so good, and he took advantage of the opportunity and capitalized on it. This isn’t to say I don’t think he can play at a high level after an impressive debut season, but today’s price is not yesterday’s, and he has every right to be in the running for the money.

Michael:

So yeah, this move by Love and his camp is no surprise. He’s only played one season as a full-time starter, but it was a pretty good one for him and the Packers. With one of the youngest and most inexperienced receiver corps in the league, Love led the Packers to the playoffs, defeating the Cowboys and finishing the year with over 4,000 passing yards and 30 touchdowns.

Green Bay had one of the best seasons since Aaron Rodgers joined the team, and while they were probably expected to fall short in the postseason, luckily for fans, the Packers never faltered with a rare first-year starter under center.

I’ve always maintained that NFL teams should pay players for what they accomplish, not for future expectations, but that’s not how this league works. This is a “pay now or suffer consequences that may last for years” business. Someone is always trying to pay early, which forces those who want to play the waiting game to pay sooner than they would like.

At the end of the day, Love played great against a not-so-great supporting cast and had a great year, so kudos to him and hope he gets what he deserves.
