Jordan Mailata of the Eagles promotes 'ladies first' attitude during locker room interview

Jordan Mailata’s “Ladies First” Reminder in Locker Room

During a locker room interview on Thursday, Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata made a light-hearted point about his “ladies first” policy, interrupting a reporter to give a female journalist the floor. This happened as he fielded questions from reporters ahead of an upcoming away game against the Detroit Lions.

In a humorous exchange, Mailata paused NBC Sports’ John Clark mid-question to prioritize the female reporter. “Did you just come in? I’m sorry, but I’ll give priority to women,” he said politely. This moment shared by WIP-FM radio reporter Devan Kaney on social media had everyone in the room laughing. Mailata added, “Sorry, John. We’ll go ladies first, but then we’ll come back to you, John. I was just sticking to it. I hope that’s okay.”

Mailata’s charm seemed to create a light atmosphere. He even joked about noticing the female journalist’s expression when Clark started speaking again. “As soon as you spoke, the girls looked at me, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, they’re all looking at me.’ I’m going to stand my ground,” he quipped.

Afterward, Kaney asked Mailata about recent comments made by teammate A.J. Brown regarding his performance in the Eagles’ offense. Mailata responded thoughtfully, saying he plans to focus on his role on the offensive line. “We just need to block and pick up protection,” he explained, acknowledging that while Brown’s feelings are valid, the team has moved past that discussion.

Brown has been open about his dissatisfaction with his role through social media and other comments. Yet, the Eagles are positioned well this season with a record of 7 wins and 2 losses, aiming for their first NFC East title in two decades.

In further remarks, Brown emphasized that winning is crucial to him but expressed concern about the team’s performance overall. “It’s not that I don’t care about winning. I’m focused on the stats,” he stated, urging for better contributions from everyone as they move into the second half of the season. “If we’re expecting to win, we can’t just keep putting a Band-Aid on it.”
