Jordan Spieth’s wrist injury has healed, reveals timetable for return

Jordan Spieth will return to the PGA Tour at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in early February, ending his longest stretch without playing professionally.

Doug Ferguson Associated Press first reported the news.

Spieth hasn't teed it up since the FedEx St. Jude Championship in mid-August, and underwent wrist surgery shortly after. His wrist has been bothering him since the 2023 PGA Championship and worsened again after last year's Ryder Cup. At last year's RBC Heritage, he felt a tendon in his wrist pop out and almost quit.

Needless to say, the surgery was long overdue.

“I've had some really bad habits for a long time,” Spieth told Ferguson.

“I don't know if it was something that should have happened anyway, or if something with my wrist prevented me from getting into a certain position, but I don't have that problem now. If you have to take a month off, you have to come back and be on wet concrete.”

Spieth has been practicing for about a month, but revealed that he did not touch a golf club for 12 weeks after the surgery.

He considered performing at the American Express in the Coachella Valley next week, but decided to play it safe and wait for the West Coast Swing to open the 2025 season. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler plans to do the same, after fellow Texan Scottie Scheffler also injured his hand on Christmas Day.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am should have plenty of firepower as Spieth, and now Scheffler, make their season debuts on the Monterey Peninsula. Rory McIlroy has also started his PGA Tour season at this tournament in recent years.

But Spieth's return to Pebble Beach will be a welcome sight for golf fans around the world. He remains one of the most popular players on the planet, and it would be great to see Spieth healthy and playing again.
