Excitement in Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels
Chapel Hill is buzzing with energy. Many fans flocked to Kenan Stadium to catch an early glimpse of the Tar Heels’ performance, but the real spotlight was on some familiar faces in the crowd.
Notably, Jordon Hudson, Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, was there, blending in with the Carolina blue cheers. It’s kind of funny, though, because while he played at Notre Dame and Marshall, now here he was, surrounded by all this Carolina spirit.
As cameras captured the scene, a host of celebrities brightened the atmosphere. It was hard to ignore how star-studded the event was.
In a memorable start to the 2025 season, the Tar Heels scored a touchdown on their opening drive. This drew applause from former basketball coach Roy Williams, who was cheering from his suite alongside UNC legend Michael Jordan. Jordan’s presence felt particularly significant, given the storied history and his “Jumpman” logo that has become synonymous with Tar Heels gear.
Another familiar face was Lauren Taylor, a Giants legend and high NFL draft pick, who also made an appearance. Interestingly, even Aaron Boone, manager of the New York Yankees, found time to watch the game before facing the Houston Astros later that evening.
Everyone from NFL star Julius Peppers to soccer icon Mia Hamm and even country musicians Eric Church and Chase Rice showed up to support Belichick as he embarked on this new chapter in his coaching career in college football.
Belichick, despite his Super Bowl achievements, is now navigating the college football landscape, a big shift from the NFL. He’s working quickly to assemble his staff, including his son Steve, who’s taken on the role of defensive coordinator.
The Tar Heels aren’t ranked as the season kicks off, yet, like the upstart Colorado Buffaloes led by Deion Sanders, there’s potential for Belichick’s team to rise the ranks as the season unfolds.
