Coach Mike McDaniel's team battled mid-20s temperatures on Thanksgiving night in Green Bay, Wis., with disappointing performances on both ends of the field, losing 30-17 to the Packers.
“I feel like we let the elements control our play.” Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks told reporters after the game..
Brooks was then informed by reporters that the Dolphins missed 20 tackles during the game, but the star linebacker was not surprised by that.
“I thought we were naive,” Brooks added. “I don't know if everyone was too cold. I don't know what it was. I felt like the elements helped us play as a group, so that's how it turned out.”
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has struggled with cold weather throughout his NFL career, finishing Thursday's game 0-7 in games played in temperatures below 45 degrees.
The Hawaii-born quarterback underperformed in those games as well, posting eight touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 71.13 passer rating.
In the remaining 54 games, Tagovailoa has 87 touchdowns, 32 interceptions, and a very high passer rating of 101.35.
Tagovailoa did well statistically on Thanksgiving, passing for 365 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions (114.2 passer rating).
Miami fell behind significantly in the first half, trailing 24-3 at halftime, and the Dolphins ended up trailing by 24 points, but they were a little better in the second half.
The loss ended the winning streak at three and severely damaged Miami's playoff chances.
Miami is chasing the Broncos (7-5) for the final AFC wild card spot.
