Thrilling Victory for Knicks in Game 4

In a nail-biting finish, the Knicks secured a remarkable 107-106 win in Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. Backup guard Jose Alvarado played a crucial role, narrowly avoiding a backcourt violation with just 10 seconds left, setting up OG Anunoby for the game-winning tip-in.

With the Knicks behind 106-105, Anunoby made a key block on De’Aaron Fox’s layup. Alvarado dribbled up but was pressured by two Spurs defenders, which nearly forced a turn-over as the ball risked crossing back over half-court. Thankfully, he managed to keep both feet off the ground while being fouled with 5.7 seconds remaining.

The pivotal moment came during the last possession for the Knicks. With only 1.2 seconds on the clock, Anunoby picked up a long rebound off a miss from Jalen Brunson, which allowed him to score and flip the lead in favor of the Knicks, putting them ahead 3-1 in the series.

Alvarado’s contribution off the bench was noteworthy—he scored eight points in just 16 minutes of play, hitting two vital three-pointers that helped swing the momentum in the game.

He finished with a plus-11 rating in limited time on the court.

The highlight of Alvarado’s performance included hitting a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter after the Knicks had trailed by 20 points. He followed up with another jumper that cut the deficit to five with under four minutes left and a crucial three-pointer that reduced the Spurs’ lead to 104-100, igniting the Madison Square Garden crowd.

His eight points marked his second-best scoring game of the postseason and his highest in a Finals matchup.

After the game, Alvarado emphatically stated, “It’s called Knicks basketball. Stay together, stay together, look at the f**king energy of this crowd. This is what we’re doing.”
