It just means more in Cleveland — ask Jose Ramirez.
The Guardians third baseman reportedly held a team meeting prior to Game 5 of the American League Divisional Series (ALDS) against the Detroit Tigers, pledging to pay his teammates $1,000 for each home run and $500 for every RBI they racked up in the contest.
Ramirez’s pledge was made known when he was speaking with former MLB player Carlos Baerga in an interview, according to insider Mike Rodriguez. (RELATED: Pohlad Family Announces Minnesota Twins Will Soon Be Up For Sale. The Franchise Is Worth A Whopping $1.46 Billion)
And how did his teammates respond?
By taking out the Tigers in a flashy 7-3 victory, clinching the 3-2 series win and sending them on to the American League Championship Series (ALCS) to take on the New York Yankees. And to make it even better for Ramirez, he put his money where his mouth was by starting off the scoring for Cleveland after he was hit by a pitch.
