Josh Allen’s Jersey Retirement in Laramie, Wyoming
On Saturday, a touching moment unfolded in Laramie, Wyoming, as Josh Allen marked the retirement of his college football jersey alongside his wife, Hailee Steinfeld.
In videos captured during the Cowboys’ home game against the Nevada Wolf Pack, Steinfeld was seen cozily nestled next to the NFL MVP in the stands at War Memorial Stadium, where Allen’s number 17 was unveiled during halftime.
At 29, Allen played three seasons for Wyoming before being drafted by the Bills as the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Currently, Allen is navigating a challenging season in Western New York. He has become just the third athlete in Wyoming’s history to have his jersey retired, joining notable basketball players Fenis Dembo and Kenny Sailors.
During the ceremony, Allen expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m so honored and happy to represent this university and this beautiful state. I love you all. Thank you. God bless you. Go Pokes, and it’s always the worst to be a CSU Ram.” His parents, Joel and LaVonne, were also present for this significant occasion.
This ceremony took place roughly six months after the couple tied the knot, a wedding that went down in May 2025.
Steinfeld, who usually keeps a low profile during Bills games, has stood by Allen amid the ups and downs the team faces. The Bills had aimed for another Super Bowl run but faced setbacks, such as a rough loss against the Texans during a prime-time game.
In that game, Allen completed 24 of 34 passes but had no touchdowns and two interceptions, which must have been frustrating; he was sacked eight times, his highest this season.
Post-game, Bills head coach Sean McDermott voiced concern, saying, “I don’t like that they hit the quarterback 12 times; I don’t like those numbers at all. It’s not a healthy way to play.” As it stands, the Bills now hold a 7-4 record this season, trailing behind the Patriots, who lead the AFC East with a 9-2 record. Next, the Bills are set to face the Steelers on Sunday.
