Josh Allen changed his name to avoid confusion with the other NFL Josh Allen

No more “Josh Allen sacks Josh Allen” or “Josh Allen gets intercepted by Josh Allen” jokes.

Jaguars edge Josh Allen (aka Better Josh Allen) changed his name today to Josh Hines Allen in honor of his family and the traditions he wants to continue.

Hines-Allen has spoken at length about following in the footsteps of his sister and uncle who played basketball in college and professionally, and how exciting it was to hear his sister’s name called as he ran out of the tunnel. Now he’s getting the chance to do just that himself as he inches closer to the Jaguars’ all-time sack record.

Fans who bought Allen jerseys, don’t worry just yet. According to Jacksonville Times Union reporter Demetrius Harvey, Hines-Allen will be hosting a swap event in September where fans who own an Allen jersey can trade it in for a new Hines-Allen jersey for free. A fine guy, and always better than Josh Allen.

While the moments and the reasons for them were amazing, we must move past these moments and Josh Allen sacking Josh Allen will become a relic of the past, an event that may never happen again in the NFL.

We’ll never forget this moment when better Josh Allen beats better Josh Allen who throws the ball.
