Following this week’s primaries, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump both received enough delegates to be their respective parties’ presidential nominees this fall.
Barring some unforeseen event (a debilitating hospitalization, a super-quick criminal prosecution, a riot on the convention floor), the 2020 presidential election will be re-contested. (Related article: Where will Nikki Haley’s resignation leave her voters in November?)
For many Americans who are neither Trump supporters nor card-carrying Democrats, this choice at the polls may not be very appealing. But for patriots who still love this country, warts and all, despite its catastrophic current trajectory and decadence, it is imperative that Trump secure a second term as president.
It’s really that simple.
Some may admire President Trump’s willingness to challenge conventional wisdom and instinctive nationalism. Or maybe you think he’s an unprincipled politician and an unpleasant pauper to boot. Perhaps you believe that President Trump is being persecuted by a weaponized prosecutorial apparatus. Or he may have deep misgivings about voting for someone who has been found guilty of a crime by a jury of his peers.
But whatever you think about the polarizing 45th president of the United States, it doesn’t really matter. The reality is that the Democratic Party, in its current stinking form, is completely unfit to govern local nursing homes, let alone the greatest country in the world. And whoever once said there were no binary choices in American elections was a fool. That’s exactly what they’re doing. (Related: Daniel McCarthy: Democrats have big problems in 2024)
So patriots from all walks of life must come together to get Mr. Trump across the finish line this November. That task could certainly be made easier (or harder) depending on how Trump runs his campaign this year. This is what he should do.
Trump’s campaign is somewhat unusual because he is the first former president since Theodore Roosevelt in 1912 to run for additional non-consecutive terms. Most challengers to incumbent presidents seeking re-election can only speak for themselves. intention What they should do once they take office and how their agenda differs from the incumbent’s record. However, Trump has already served his full term in office.he have record. Plus, that word was only a few years ago. Most voters remember it well.
So the key to President Trump’s re-election this fall will be to openly argue that Trump’s term in office was clearly better for the median American than Biden’s.
On the economy, Mr. Biden chaired the meeting. worst inflation 40 years later, Decline in real wages, official recession and historic supply chain crisis. Trump, by contrast, oversaw a largely prosperous economy pre-COVID-19. the stock market soared, Inflation was generally suppressed,America is, net exporter of oil and natural gas For the first time in history, the black unemployment rate reached the bottom Ever since that statistic was first measured. (Related: Stephen Moore: Here are some of Joe Biden’s biggest economic rants)
At the border, Biden presided over the worst crisis in American history. An endless stream of unidentified illegal immigrants, big burden They include straining local government resources, a surge in violent crime, stagnant wages for working-class Americans, and the mass importation of “special interest foreigners” involved in terrorism.By contrast, President Trump may not be finished building the border wall, but illegal immigration is It was an order of magnitude lower The reason it’s better than it is today is largely due to the smart steps he took, such as staying in Mexico.
On the world stage, Vladimir Putin did not march into Ukraine under the Trump administration (in fact, Putin invaded Crimea in 2014 under President Obama, then waited patiently until the next Democratic president invaded again). Interesting), Hamas marched under the Trump administration. Since the defeat of Nazi Germany, he did not invade Israel and kill the most Jews in one day.
Iran was on the brink of economic catastrophe by the end of Trump’s term due to the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign. Under the Biden administration, the Islamic Republic has worked with “the utmost audacity” to sow the seeds of jihad across the Middle East.
Despite all the talk of President Trump’s “chaos,” no major wars broke out overseas during his presidency.
The 2024 presidential election campaign is likely to be tough. Democrats are just beginning their upcoming ad campaign, portraying President Trump as a mafia-like thug and shamelessly comparing January 6, 2021, to 9/11.
Trump’s best chance this fall is to ignore the noise and prove, contrary to the smear campaign, that he is the better candidate in terms of ability, stability, and sanity. He has the record to prove it.
