Josh Hart didn’t hold back during a recent media day for the Knicks.
On Monday, he reflected on Jalen Brunson’s debut hosting “Saturday Night Live,” which aired over the weekend. Hart offered a blunt assessment, saying, “I think his performance was fine. I don’t think he has a future in acting,” while sporting a playful smirk that elicited laughter from those present.
The NBA Finals MVP, Brunson, made history as the first Knick to host the iconic sketch comedy show, kicking off its 52nd season. Hart attended this event alongside fellow Knicks starters Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, and OG Anunoby, clearly supporting his teammate.
During Brunson’s monologue, the Knicks all had their moments in the spotlight. Brunson called on each of his teammates for questions, with Hart using his chance to plug Brunson’s podcast, “The Roommates Show,” which they co-host. Hart cheekily inquired if Brunson had really taken a $113 million pay cut back in July 2024.
“Is that money still up for grabs?” he joked.
The two engaged in some friendly banter, reminiscing about Hart’s playful goosing of Brunson after their team’s NBA Cup victory.
Hart and his wife Shannon were later spotted heading to the “SNL” after-party at the Crane Club in New York.
Brunson also brought out Stephen A. Smith, impersonated by Kenan Thompson, highlighting him as one of the skeptics on Brunson’s journey to winning an NBA title.
In case you missed it, the Knicks triumphed over the Spurs in five games, clinching their first NBA championship in 53 years. The excitement surrounding this achievement took New York by storm in June and has carried over into the offseason, leading to Brunson’s hosting gig. The Knicks are gearing up to begin the 2026-27 season, returning to Madison Square Garden on October 20 to face the 76ers.
