This summer, Josh Hart added an NBA championship to his accomplishments.
Now, it seems he’s considering another role: as a big league manager.
On Wednesday night, during the intensity of the Yankees-Red Sox wild-card series, Hart weighed in as the Yankees pulled away during the bottom of the sixth inning of Game 2.
He criticized the Red Sox for choosing to intentionally walk Ben Rice, leaving a runner on second base and opting to face Cody Bellinger instead.
Manager Chad Tracy’s decision backfired, to say the least.
Bellinger belted a high drive to right field, clearing the short porch for a three-run homer, pushing the Yankees’ lead to 8-1 (though Boston later added a run with a solo homer from Nick Sogard in the seventh).
Hart was clearly thrilled, expressing his excitement over the Yankees’ performance on X as they appeared to be heading toward a sweep.
“YOU WANTED TO WALK RICE TO GET TO BELLI?! BOSTON YOU DUMB AS HELL!!!” Hart exclaimed in a post. “NY RUNS BOSTON. BELLI IS HIM.”
Just last week, Hart was in The Bronx, throwing out the first pitch before a doubleheader against the Orioles. He and teammate Jalen Brunson had also thrown first pitches in mid-June after helping the Knicks win their first NBA title in 53 years.
After previously losing three consecutive playoff series to the Red Sox, the Yankees are now on the verge of eliminating Boston in the wild-card round for the second season in a row.
