Josh Hart’s clutch Knicks 3-pointer elicits great call from Mike Breen

In the Knicks’ Game 1 win on Saturday night, Josh Hart’s 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter sent Madison Square Garden into a frenzy.

We also got a great call from play-by-play announcer Mike Breen.

The Knicks led the 76ers by four points with just over a minute left and had possession of the ball as the shot clock expired when Miles McBride made a pass to Hart.

Hurts pump-faked and McBride set a screen to force Joel Embiid off the ball.

Then Hurts made some magic, hitting a deep 3-pointer off-balance and a perfect shot from beyond the arc to give the Knicks a seven-point lead and win Game 1.

Breen, who was working on the game for ESPN, didn’t use his signature “hard hitting,” but he still made a great play.

“The shot clock was 4 o’clock and Hart faked,” Breen said as the play developed. “Hart tries another 3-point shot, oh, that’s good!” Take down another one! ”

Breen breathed life into the game, making the Garden crowd’s raucous voice heard on ESPN’s broadcast.

“We’re up by seven points with less than a minute left,” Breen said. “Hart didn’t sit out the whole second half.”

Hart led the Knicks with 22 points, and Breen’s call underscored how important his shot and performance was in clinching Game 1 victory in New York.
