Karlie Kloss and Josh Kushner Achieve New Sports Fame
On Wednesday, Josh Kushner and Karlie Kloss made headlines in the sports world.
Mark Walter’s decision to sell the Lakers to Kushner and Bob Iger for a staggering $12.5 billion took many by surprise, especially since Walter had purchased a majority stake in the team just 14 months earlier for a then-record $10 billion.
Interestingly, Kushner isn’t the only one with a hand in sports ownership.
Kloss, who is 33 and a well-known supermodel, holds a minority stake in the New York Liberty.
She acquired her share in a limited partnership with Alibaba founder Jack Ma after the Liberty clinched the 2024 WNBA championship, reflecting her strong support for the team.
Reportedly, previous owners Joe Wu Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai have sold their shares, with the team’s valuation set at an impressive $450 million, marking a record for women’s professional sports franchises.
Kloss’ recent excursion to Los Angeles saw her taking on the role of executive producer for “In Bloom: Everybody’s Struggle,” a film trilogy highlighting reproductive justice, which just released.
During this time, she shared an Instagram post about the event, expressing excitement. “It was a great night in LA where we shared three films about reproductive justice: Everybody’s Fight,” she wrote. “As we prepare for fall, these stories remind us how important it is to take action and vote. Thank you to all involved for your continued support.”
Beyond these developments, it’s been quite a jam-packed year for Kloss and Kushner, who is actually the younger sibling of Jared Kushner and brother-in-law to Ivanka Trump.
The couple also attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden on July 3rd. Kloss stunned in a gold strapless dress, complementing it with matching accessories, while Kushner sported a suit complete with a bow tie.
Given Kloss’s history as a close friend of Swift, there was curiosity surrounding whether they received an invitation to the reception, which boasted over 1,000 guests.
However, complications reportedly arose due to the fact that Kushner, a 14-time Grammy winner, did not attend Kloss’s own wedding in a small Jewish ceremony held upstate in 2018.
Interestingly, Kloss has also struck up a friendship with Scooter Braun, a notable figure who acquired Big Machine Records, which includes Swift’s first six albums. This led to several of those albums being re-recorded.
Braun was also a guest at Kloss and Kushner’s wedding, which is significant.
Having been together since 2012, the couple has three children: Levi, 5, Elijah, 3, and their almost one-year-old daughter Ray.
