A man from Iowa who was previously designated as an interested person in the loss of missing student Sudiksha Konanki, went home to another hitch as his newly exchanged passport had no correct stamps.
Joshua Libe, 22, was taken into custody late Wednesday during a stopover in Puerto Rico, Noticentro reported.
It was not clear how long the return tourists were held by the Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) at Luis Munoz Marin Airport. He was asked because the US Consulate of the Dominican Republic was issued to help him leave soon – his new passport was asked because it was not properly engraved when he left. Noticentro reported.
However, his father was unable to be unhappy about being late again to return his son home, and told reporters at the airport, “Leave us alone.”
“I'm a dad who just took my son away. I don't understand. We were just trying to be together for two weeks and now… I don't understand,” he complained.
Libe is due to return to Rock Rapids, Iowa, and asked two weeks of questions about the disappearance of Conanki, a 20-year-old ready-made student he last saw during a rough swim at Ryu Hotel & Resort in Punta Cana on March 6th.
He tells the police he pulled Conanki safely, but then he died drunk on the beach – and she hasn't been seen since.
Authorities described him as a person of interest, but never accused him of misconduct or said he was a suspect.
He was allowed to leave immediately after asking Conanki's sad parents to let him go to Dominican authorities and declare his daughter legally dead.
“Both authorities have shown how high the ocean waves were at the time of the incident, and both sides of the authorities have made it clear that the interested person was not a suspect from the start,” Sabu Belayudu Conanki, the father of a man and woman, said from a family home in Virginia.
“It has deep sadness and heavy heart to us that we agree with the fact that our daughter has owned,” he said. “This is very difficult for us to handle.”
