Major U.S. media outlets appear to have received millions of dollars from China Daily, a state-run Chinese media outlet.
All China Daily has asked in exchange for millions of dollars is that these American publications publish Chinese propaganda disguised as news articles.
According to Drew Holden of the Washington Free Beacon, China Daily is “the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party.”
“It’s completely owned and operated by the Chinese Communist Party,” Holden told Stu Bruguiere, adding that media outlets “run exaggerated stories about the Chinese regime” and “talk about U.S.-China relations” and “are not supposed to.” It was revealed that he was paid in a different way. The New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal all participated in this until they severed ties with China Daily in 2021 when news of their involvement with the company broke.
Time magazine has also partnered with China Daily, receiving $3.5 million from a company run by the Chinese Communist Party starting in 2021.
Time Inc. has a segment on its website called “China Watch” that it advertises in, but Holden says, “Underneath the Time magazine logo is a really bad news story. “It just looks like an article.”
“They’re all trying to stop receiving Chinese propaganda funds. Right, Drew?” Stu Brugiere asks, noting that it makes sense now that they’ve been caught.
“You would think so,” Holden laughs.
“Straight propaganda from our geopolitical nemesis China is printed below the logo for distribution to our readers and they are taking huge amounts of money to do this,” he added. .
