Journalist Nick Sorter Detained in Portland While Covering Anti-ICE Demonstration

In Portland, Oregon, police arrested Nick Soter, a conservative journalist, while he was covering ongoing anti-ICE protests. This came after they declined to arrest an ANTIFA protester who had assaulted him. Soter was taken into custody for “disorderly conduct,” as reported.

According to a statement from the Portland Police Department, officers observed a fight involving three men and subsequently arrested all of them. They were booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for second-degree disorderly conduct.

The individuals taken into custody include:

  • Angela Davis, 49, from Vernonia, Oregon
  • Nicholas Thorto, 27, from Washington, DC
  • Mii, 43, a resident of Portland

Journalist Benny Johnson reported that Homeland Security officials had indicated they sent ICE agents to certain locations to pursue custody of conservative journalists, citing concerns that their live broadcasts could pose risks to prison populations.

Later, Fox News relayed that Bill Melugin shared a picture of Soter outside the ICE facility.

On social media, a video surfaced showing Soter being attacked by an anti-ICE protester shortly before his arrest.

A report also mentioned that Soter had been released on a personal bond.

In another video, Soter is seen intervening to prevent anti-ICE protesters from burning American flags by stomping out the flames.

Just the day before, Soter had appeared on Fox News’ Ingraham Angle, discussing the ongoing aggression towards conservative journalists and left-wing anti-ICE protesters.

Katie Daviscourt, another journalist, shared a video that captured the arrest of one of the men reportedly involved in restraining Soter.

Daviscourt herself has faced violent attacks from left-wing protesters. She appeared on Fox News, visibly affected and showcasing injuries she sustained during a recent incident where police failed to make arrests even after identifying the perpetrators.

Despite earlier reluctance to make arrests, the Portland police later indicated they were looking for the attacker who targeted Daviscourt.
