Journalist questions Biden’s claim about his cognitive abilities.

On Thursday, Axios reporter Alex Thompson noted that members of the Biden White House have their doubts about President Joe Biden’s dismissal of claims concerning his mental decline.

During an interview on “The View,” both President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were questioned about a new book suggesting a “dramatic decline” in his cognitive abilities as his term progressed.

In response, Biden simply stated, “They’re wrong. There’s nothing to keep it.” Jill added, “I think the authors of those books weren’t with us in the White House. They didn’t see how Joe operated day in and day out.”

Later, in a segment on CNN, host Boris Sanchez discussed Biden’s remarks with Thompson, implying that there may be a cover-up regarding Biden’s capacity.

Thompson asserted, “Our report indicates that a number of individuals in the White House disagree with him. We believe there was indeed a notable decline and, well, perhaps a cover-up, particularly in 2023 and 2024.”

Thompson recently received the White House Correspondents’ Aldo Beckman Award for his comprehensive reporting on Biden’s strong debate against Donald Trump, detailing its ramifications and his ultimate decision to withdraw from the race.

During his acceptance speech, he criticized mainstream media, suggesting they were reluctant to acknowledge signs of Biden’s decline.

Thompson also commented that, “The situation surrounding President Biden and the cover-up from those near him highlights that any administration, regardless of party, can engage in deception.” He emphasized that trust is crucial, stating that owning up to mistakes can bolster credibility, whereas defensiveness can damage it.

He wrapped up with, “We should have done better.”
