Juan Soto launches go-ahead Yankees homer after injury scare

With one dramatic move, Juan Soto turned uncertainty into mayhem.

Minutes after appearing to be in severe pain after being hit by a foul ball in the leg, Soto hit a two-run homer to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead against the Royals on Wednesday in the Bronx.

The Yankees could do little against opposing left-hander Cole Ragans, who hadn't allowed a runner to reach second base when Soto hit a ball off the top of his right front foot in the sixth inning.

The superstar stumbled halfway to first base before dropping to his knees.

After a team trainer examined his tense leg for a few minutes, Soto got up and returned to home plate to thunderous applause.

Two pitches later, Soto smashed a 2-2 knuckle curveball deep into the right-field stands for his 39th home run of the season.
