Judge Delivers Unexpected Ruling in Duggar Family Case

Case of Joseph and Kendra Duggar on Hold

An Arkansas judge has decided to pause the child endangerment case involving Joseph and Kendra Duggar, with a review hearing set for August 7, 2027.

Kendra was taken into custody back in March on charges of endangering a minor’s welfare and false imprisonment. Additionally, while Joseph was in custody for unrelated charges related to child sex abuse, new accusations were leveled against him as reported by TMZ. Both have pleaded not guilty.

The news outlet mentioned that their case could be entirely dismissed if they manage to stay out of trouble leading up to the review hearing.

It’s not quite clear why the judge chose to hold off on the case.

During this advisement period, Kendra and Joseph were warned to avoid any further offenses and are required to uphold good behavior. They are also each facing fines of $1,850 to the court.

If they adhere to the court’s conditions, the prosecution has indicated a willingness to drop the charges.

Joseph’s legal troubles also include his arrest on March 18 in a separate incident in Florida, where he was accused of lewd and lascivious molestation involving a victim under 12. He faces further allegations regarding inappropriate behavior from someone over 18, as detailed by People.

A 14-year-old victim alleged that Joseph had touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions when she was just 9, according to US Weekly.

After being extradited to Florida, Joseph pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial. He has since been released on a $600,000 bond and returned to Arkansas.

Investigations by the Tontitown Police Department and the Arkansas Department of Human Services led to the charges against the couple for endangerment.

Joseph gained fame from the reality show “19 Kids and Counting.” His brother, Joshua, previously admitted to molesting his sisters and another girl during his teenage years and is currently serving a 12.5-year sentence in federal prison after being convicted in 2022.
