But Uzcategui said he was “not persuaded.”

She cited Scheer's attorney's reluctance to share materials with Allman's attorney when contacted Thursday. Scheer's attorney had concerns about confidentiality and instead shared the documents with Allman's public defender, she said.

Allman said in a court filing ahead of the hearing that a conservatorship is not necessary. He admitted to battling addiction and irresponsible spending, but is under medical treatment, has been sober for more than three months, attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and has passed drug tests. He also expressed his desire to submit a proposal.

“While I understand that I believe my mother, as a potential conservator, has my best interests in mind, and I am grateful for her love and support, at this time I cannot accept her unilateral assistance. “No support is required,” the application states.

Allman appeared in court Friday, but spoke only briefly to answer the judge's questions. His attorney declined to comment after the hearing.

Cher did not attend. Her attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
