Judge gives sentence to troubled NFL player Rashee Rice: report

Kansas City Chiefs Receiver Faces Legal Consequences Following Accident

Laci Rice, a wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, has learned the outcome of his involvement in a vehicle accident that occurred in the Dallas area last year. A Dallas County judge has sentenced Rice to one month of jail time along with five years of probation.

According to his attorney, Lois West, Rice pleaded guilty to charges of felony racing and causing injuries through a vehicular accident. Reports indicate that he was driving at approximately 119 mph when the collision happened back in March 2024, involving another vehicle that was also speeding.

Rice has already paid around $115,000 to cover medical expenses for the victim involved in the crash. He expressed that he is working on maturing and growing from this experience.

The NFL has held off on determining any disciplinary action until the legal matters were resolved. There is speculation that if Rice is suspended, he may miss games during the 2025 season. On a related note, he received a deferred ruling, which means if he successfully completes probation, the case could potentially be dismissed.

Shortly after the accident, Rice stated he was cooperating with local authorities. Dashcam footage has surfaced showing Rice’s vehicle and another luxury car speeding before the crash occurred.

Moreover, reports indicate that Rice had borrowed a Lamborghini SUV from a rental company, which only permitted him as the driver during that time. In the aftermath of the incident, Dallas police noted that both drivers left the scene and did not exchange information, although it’s unclear if anyone was hurt.

As a side note, Rice missed the last 13 games of the 2024 season due to a knee injury, which required surgery in October.
