Stalking Case Involving WNBA Player Results in Prison Sentence
A judge has sentenced Michael Lewis, a 55-year-old from Texas, to two and a half years in prison for stalking WNBA player Caitlyn Clark. Lewis appeared in court in Indiana on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to felony stalking and misdemeanor harassment as part of a plea deal.
The judge also issued a no-contact order, prohibiting Lewis from entering Hinkle Field House, Gainbridge Field House, events associated with the Indiana Fever, and any events involving the Pacers organization. It seems that Clark was informed about this decision as well.
Back in January, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received reports about Lewis exhibiting “possible stalker patterns.” He allegedly sent threatening and sexually explicit messages to WNBA players on their X accounts between December 12, 2024, and January 11, 2025.
Following these reports, investigators were able to link the messages to Lewis through his IP address, which traced back to a hotel in Indianapolis. This detail raised questions since he was a Texas resident. Subsequently, Lewis was arrested on January 12, as reported by various sources.
Prosecutor Ryan Mears noted that this resolution holds Lewis accountable for his threatening actions, the fear they instilled, and the confusion he caused. He emphasized that this outcome allows Clark to focus on what truly matters to her now that Lewis will spend time with the Department of Corrections.
So far, Clark hasn’t made any public statements regarding this unsettling situation.
