Judge Stops Trump Admin from Ending Deportation Protections for Cubans

A federal judge stopped the Trump administration on Monday from ending deportation protections for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans.

Individuals in the country were reportedly allowed to enter the United States under President Biden as part of their humanitarian parole program. Miami Herald.

US District Judge Indira Talwani ruled after last week’s hearing that immigrants who were paroleed in pursuit of immigration benefits can remain in the United States. In effect, her ruling prevents Kristi Noem, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, from revoking her parole status as part of a management plan to end the humanitarian program on April 24th.

Thalwani said her role in reviewing the agency’s lapse order is “limited,” but the judge has the authority to maintain the “termination” of Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan secretaries.

Fox News’ Bill Melgin said the Biden administration “created the program out of thin air” and that the program was “temporarily suspended due to fraud.”

“The Biden Administrator has created the program from thin air using enforced parole authorities. It was temporarily suspended due to program fraud. The judge is blocking Trump from using his authority to cancel humanitarian parole grants,” Melgin said in X.
