Judge temporarily reinstalls fired head of whistleblower protection office

The federal judge temporarily re-established the special advisor's office head and allowed Hampton Dillinger to return to his post after being fired by President Trump on Friday.

An order from Judge Amy Berman Jackson temporarily refused to fire Dillinger's shot and allowed her to return to work until the end of Thursday.

Dellinger sued on Monday after saying he was fired from his post “in a one-sentence email.”

Biden's appointee Dellinger said the move was appointed to a five-year appointment in the office.

The OSC works to provide another pathway for whistleblowers to report concerns about government misconduct and to protect them from retaliation. It also addresses a potential violation of the Hatch Act, a law that litigates elections by federal employees.

Dellinger's lawyers allege that his shootings are in violation of the law, which states that he could only be removed for the cause, but also added a list of other recent shootings. It overshadows the very institution designed to confirm.

“The extent of the recent termination of protected civil servant employees under the new presidential administration has sparked controversy over both the legality of these actions and the potential retaliation against whistleblowers. The OSC has said , we are legally entrusted with receiving such reports, investigating them and taking appropriate action,” the lawsuit says.

Jackson nodded to his previous trial, which he described as the “first blush” of the case, as he did not weigh the merits of the case.

“Hampton Dillinger must continue as a special advisor to the Special Advisors Office, as he occupied, when he received an email from the President on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 7:22pm. “The defendant may not deny him, and he has acknowledged access to the office's resources or materials, or the authority of others as a special advisor,” she wrote.
