The idea of playing soccer in Ireland is a great one. This is so important that I had to make it the first sentence. Imagine soccer being played there. Real soccer. Not something Florida State has done.
The idea of professional football in Ireland seems like a pretty real possibility, at least according to my good friend Julian Edelman, who sat down for a chat on the Blogging The Boys YouTube channel this week to talk about all things NFL related (more on that later) as well as this new project he's working on with Jameson to bring professional football games to Ireland.
Professional American Football continues to expand overseas, but Dublin has yet to officially join the lineup. A few weeks ago, a college game was played in Dublin and fans went wild. But Jameson wants more. So the iconic whiskey brand is partnering with football giant Julian Edelman to bring back the Jameson Touchdown in Dublin, an unofficial call-out for professional American football regular season games played in Dublin, Ireland.
If Dublin is to host a regular season professional American football game by April 1, 2025, Jameson will be celebrating this monumental occasion by giving one lucky fan (21 years of age or older) and five friends the Ultimate Dublin Experience, which includes airfare to Dublin, three nights' hotel accommodations, a tour of the Jameson Distillery and a $3,000 gift card to purchase tickets to a game.

Imagine an Irish NFL, there are a zillion games played overseas these days, I don't understand why this isn't being seriously considered.
But when it comes to current pro football topics, Julien was proud when talking about the New England Patriots, noting that he may have heard people talking about the team being short on players and that this may have been the reason for their big win over the Cincinnati Bengals last week.
The Patriots won Sunday. We all know that's normal, especially Julien, but that's because Jerrod Mayo was the head coach instead of Bill Belichick. Transitioning to a new era is always difficult, but the Patriots took a very important step in doing so.
Edelman noted that it was a tough game in which the Patriots outlasted the Bengals to pull off the win, and that this week's game against Seattle will be a tough test for the Patriots and an interesting benchmark to evaluate them against, but he also said it will be a fond memory since one of Edelman's Super Bowl wins with New England was against the Seahawks.
