‘Jurassic Park’ star slams self checkouts in new video

When it comes to the future of technology, Sam Neil is not a fan of any particular aspect.

On Sunday, the “Jurassic Park” star, 77, took him to social media to share his “old-fashioned” thoughts and why he prefers to have a person who supports him at grocery store checkout.

“Be old fashioned,” he kicked off his video. On Instagram. “Thank you, but I refuse to check my groceries in the supermarket. I want people to help me.

“And every time I check out something for myself – you have to think like this – I’m doing someone from work. And if robots and self-service do all the work everywhere, who is going to buy groceries at checkout? That’s an old-fashioned question, but that’s a legitimate question.”

Neil fans shared their thoughts in the comments section.

“I would like to add that more human interaction is needed to agree with 100% and to regain empathy, kindness, compassion and courtesy that appears to have evaporated over the past few years,” one fan wrote.

“Thank you Sam,” another wrote. “People need to remember this. We want human contact and work, not machines.”

Neil doesn’t know to be honest – in 2023 he was opened up about cancer diagnosis, saying he is not afraid of death “not far away.”

He said he was in remission at the time, but pointed out that he had to maintain treatment indefinitely and that the treatment would eventually cease functioning.

He later announced a tearful apology to his social media followers, saying, “I would pass by that treatment I am in remission one day will fail. Well, that’s nothing to happen.”

Neil said, “So don’t worry. I’ve received a lot of messages from social media and friends. Sorry for worrying about everyone. It’s all okay. It’s a beautiful day.
