A new poll shows most American adults are not convinced that former President Trump committed a crime in the hush money case, which began jury selection in New York City on Monday.
President Trump has said he acted illegally in a case where he allegedly falsified business documents to cover up hush money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels, who said she had sexual contact with him. Only 35% of American adults did. Public Affairs Research poll revealed.
Trump has maintained his innocence and denied having any extramarital sexual contact with Daniels.
The poll found that 31% of Americans think Trump’s actions were unethical but not illegal. Additionally, 14% of respondents said President Trump did nothing wrong, while 19% said they didn’t know enough to be sure.

About half of respondents said they were very or somewhat confident that New York state prosecutors were treating Mr. Trump fairly, while 44% said they were very or not at all confident that prosecutors were being fair. The answer is that they are not confident.
But if Trump is convicted, about half of Americans say he is unfit to be president.

The defendants are increasingly convinced that Trump committed misconduct in three other pending federal and state criminal cases.

Regarding President Trump’s election interference allegations in Georgia, 47% of American adults say the former president acted illegally.
Additionally, 47% said Trump committed a crime by keeping classified documents at his Florida home, and 45% said Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results were illegal. .

Despite this sentiment, approximately 40% of all Americans still have little or no confidence that state and federal prosecutors are fair.

A verdict in the hush money trial is expected within about six weeks, well before the Republican National Convention, where President Trump is expected to formally accept the Republican nomination for president in November.
