Islands are often dotted with miles of long beaches, but this is not always the case.

Many islands around the world are very small and have little holding capacity.

Just Room Enough Island is just 3,300 square feet, according to Condé Nast Traveler.

It is widely known as the world's smallest inhabited island, with just enough space for a small cottage and a tree to stand on top.

Hub Island, as it was formerly known, is located between the United States and Canada in Alexandria Bay, New York. The island is one of 1,864 islands that make up the Thousand Islands.

According to Condé Nast Traveler, the island was purchased by the Sizeland family in the 1950s. The family built a cottage, planted a tree, and gave the island its name, which remains to this day: Just Room Enough Island.

The island quickly became a tourist attraction and can be spotted from afar by boat ride along the St. Lawrence River.

“One wrong move and you'll end up swimming,” the Washington Post wrote in 2010 about the tennis-court-sized island.

That was until lighthouses became automated and no longer needed humans to operate them.

Bishop Rock is located in the Atlantic Ocean, west of the Isles of Scilly.

Sea Lion Island is part of the Falkland Islands. The island consists of one lodge and is known for its wildlife.

Australia's Dungar Island is home to approximately 300 people and is approximately 75 acres in size.
