Justin Baldoni and Emily Speak on Blake Lively’s Legal Battle

After two years of drama surrounding Blake Lively’s legal issues, Justin Baldoni has finally shared his thoughts. The actor and his wife, Emily, recorded a lengthy Instagram video where they talked about the unfairness and trauma they’ve experienced throughout this period.

“We haven’t spoken publicly for most of the last two years, and it’s not that we didn’t have anything to say,” Baldoni explained at the start of the video. “Lord knows we wanted to. But every time we tried to make a video, something held us back; it just didn’t feel like the right time. We’ve been processing our feelings and praying about it.”

Emily added, “I think this is the moment. I have so much I want to share.”

The tension began during the promotion of the film “It Ends With Us,” set to release in 2024. Reports of friction arose when Baldoni promoted the project independently of Lively and the rest of the cast. Subsequently, Lively filed a lawsuit in December 2024 against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and damaging her reputation after she voiced concerns. Baldoni denied these claims and counter-sued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and several others for defamation and extortion.

What followed was a highly publicized legal conflict that included the release of personal messages and court filings. Eventually, the two parties reached a confidential settlement in May 2026, without any admission of guilt or financial compensation exchanged. However, Lively’s demand for approximately $8 million in legal fees remains unresolved, contested by Baldoni.

In their recent video, Baldoni emphasized that while they’ve felt immense gratitude for many aspects of life, it doesn’t negate the pain they’ve endured over the years. “This journey has been filled with challenges, and we’ve had to grapple with many difficult questions. How could something like this happen?” Emily stated. “There’s so much to unpack.”

Despite the heaviness of their experience, Justin mentioned, “We’re healing. If you’ve ever gone through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t a straight line. Every day is different. We’ve had to reassess what truly matters to us—it’s our family, friends, and the support we’ve received.”

As he closed the video, Justin reflected on his biggest takeaway from this ordeal: “When life gets challenging, that’s when true love reveals itself.” Emily echoed this sentiment, noting that while there’s a lot more to say, their focus now is on enjoying life with their children and continuing their healing journey.

Although the legal skirmish may be winding down, it remains a hot topic in Hollywood, spotlighting issues around workplace conduct and how reputations are managed within the industry.
