Justin Baldoni plans to continue after court rejects countersuit against Blake Lively

Blake Lively and Justin Bardoni Legal Dispute Continues

Justin Bardoni is standing firm in his legal dispute, despite having his claims dismissed on Monday. Following a ruling that didn’t completely go in favor of either side, Bardoni’s lawyer, Brian Friedman, expressed his dissatisfaction with declarations of victory from Blake Lively and her legal team, suggesting that they were premature.

“Lively and her team’s assertions of triumph are misleading,” Friedman said. “While the court did dismiss some claims regarding honor and damages, they also allowed for amendments to several other claims, indicating that the case isn’t closed yet.” He mentioned the possibility of adding more evidence, hinting that the fight is far from over.

Bardoni’s lawsuit, which is worth $400 million, revolves around allegations of harassment and retaliation against Lively and film producer Jamie Heath for their work on “It Ends With Us.” Lively initially took legal action against Bardoni but has since expressed the emotional toll such lawsuits can take.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, she shared how the suit affected her. “Like many, I’ve felt the impact of retaliation lawsuits. It’s disheartening to face such manufactured shame,” she wrote, emphasizing the need to fight for women’s rights to speak up. Lively also mentioned feeling grateful for the support she received and offered resources for those affected by domestic violence.

The Lawsuit Background

Originally, Lively filed her lawsuit claiming sexual harassment and emotional distress. In December, she escalated her complaint to federal court after initially submitting it to California’s Civil Rights Office.

In retaliation, Bardoni lodged his own lawsuit against Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and emotional distress, following the dismissal of his claims in court. However, the judge remarked that Bardoni did not provide enough evidence to hold Lively accountable for any statements beyond the claims made in court.

There’s a lot of back and forth, with Bardoni’s team even releasing unedited footage from the film set, which they claim supports their assertions. In contrast, Lively’s legal representation sought a gag order against Friedman, only for Bardoni’s side to label this as “blackmail tactics.”

Both sides have stated they won’t be resolving matters outside of court, reflecting a firm commitment to seeing this case through. The legal battle is set to continue, with a trial scheduled for March 2026 in New York.
