Justin Baldoni’s Legal Battle with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Concludes

Justin Baldoni has faced significant challenges in his legal disputes with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

A judge has officially closed the $400 million defamation countersuit that Baldoni filed against the couple. This decision came from Judge Louis Lehman after the window for submitting an amended complaint expired.

Reports indicate that Judge Lehman signed an order last Friday, allowing Baldoni, 41, and his co-plaintiffs from Wayfarer Studios to let their case dissolve after it was dismissed in June.

On October 17, Judge Lehman informed everyone involved in the case that he was issuing a final judgment to close it.

Lively, 38, appears to be the only party to respond at that time. It seems that she requested the judge to finalize the decision and continue receiving her legal fees, to which the judge complied.

Attempts to reach Baldoni and Lively’s representatives for comments have been made.

This legal saga began in December when Lively alleged that Baldoni had sexually harassed her during the filming of “It Ends With Us” and attempted to harm her reputation after the movie’s release.

Baldoni has denied these accusations, subsequently countersuing Lively, Reynolds, 49, and his publicist Leslie Sloan for defamation and extortion, allegations they have also denied.

In June, Judge Lehman dismissed Baldoni and Wayfarer’s $400 million lawsuit, alongside a separate $250 million defamation suit against the New York Times, which claimed defamation and false invasion of privacy.

Post-dismissal, Lively’s attorneys declared the victory as “complete vindication” for their client, insisting that the countersuit was unfounded and that the court recognized this. They expressed eagerness to pursue attorney fees and potential punitive damages against Baldoni and others associated with the lawsuit.

Lively addressed the lawsuit on her Instagram Story, sharing her experiences with retaliation lawsuits. She mentioned the struggle many face when confronting such legal actions, noting that while she lost her case, others often lack the resources to defend themselves.

She remarked that she is “more determined than ever” to advocate for women’s rights concerning their safety and dignity.

As it stands, the case is set for trial in March 2026, marking the initial lawsuit Lively filed against Baldoni.
