Justin Hartley on the Success of “Tracker”

Actor Justin Hartley believes his series “Tracker” has resonated with audiences due to its genuine portrayal of masculinity. He plays Colter Shaw, a survivalist dedicated to finding missing individuals.

In a recent conversation, Hartley expressed his appreciation for the character’s unapologetic approach to manliness. “What’s appealing about Colter is that he doesn’t shy away from his masculinity,” he stated, suggesting that viewers are drawn to characters they can relate to, particularly in their friendships. “I think we’ve created a character who is emotionally well-rounded and seeks to understand the motivations behind people’s actions.”

“Tracker” is currently in its third season, which Hartley thinks has contributed to its popularity. He emphasized the balance of masculinity in his character, pointing out that being a man doesn’t equate to being the loudest presence in the room.

Moreover, he highlighted the collaborative effort behind the scenes, specifically mentioning executive producer Ken Olin. Their aim was to create a show that evolves its characters over time, breaking the mold of typical procedural dramas. “We wanted people to care,” Hartley added. “And it seems they genuinely love it.”

Hartley is also widely recognized for his roles in other popular shows like “This Is Us,” “Passions,” and “The Young and the Restless.”
