Justin Thomas caps WM Phoenix Open with unreal ‘mic-drop’ on 18th hole

Scottsdale, Arizona – We'll talk about an incredible way to complete a tournament.

After hitting the drive 325 yards down the middle of the 18th fairway, Justin Thomas had only 102 yards left for his second shot. He had already made four birdies over the five final holes, but the famous par 3, 16th, bogey, made that stretch.

Still, his second on the 18th hole softened that bogey blow, then softened some. Thomas drilled a hole in Eagle 2surges to the top five with WM Phoenix Open.

“It was a pretty good Rob Wedge number,” Thomas told a later CBS TV broadcast.

“I was actually over the ball with a sand wedge so for some reason I felt it was a better decision to retreat and hit a full lob wedge, and that was true. This week is really good. I played golf and didn't really show it, so it was worth it.”

It's good that Thomas switched that. According to Justin Ray, golf statisticianThomas became the first player to eagle the 18th hole at TPC Scottsdale in the final round. He shot 5 under 31 on the back nine, adding up 6 under 65 under overall.

Thomas has started the entire 2025 campaign steadily. His best finish to date occurred at the American Express, where he finished second solo. Depending on how the other candidates end in TPC Scottsdale, Thomas may record the second top five of the season, but the top ten finish is the rock. He heads to the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines next week, hoping to win the PGA Tour event for the first time at the 2022 PGA Championship, and take place at Southern Hills. of his career.
