“This was a mistake that I made, but I hope that everybody watching and listening to this right now will learn from this mistake,” Timberlake said, who was ordered to make a public statement after receiving a plea deal to lesser charges in the case. “You should never drive a car, even if you have one drink.”

The “Suit and Tie” singer pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of “driving while impaired” and was ordered by Judge Carl Eileis to perform 25 to 40 hours of community service and to make a public statement about his inappropriate behavior.

The NSYNC singer admitted, “I try to hold myself to very high standards, and this wasn't one of them.” Timberlake went on to say that he “could have made a different decision,” adding that since the incident he's “had time to think about it.”

“And I understand that the fact that you're all here means that I have a platform, you have a platform and we share that platform. So I would say to everyone watching, even if you've had one drink, don't get behind the wheel of a car. There are plenty of alternatives. Call a friend. Take an Uber. There are plenty of travel apps… Take a cab.”

“I've said this before in court, but I grew up in a small town and I understand how difficult or special this must have been for the residents of Sag Harbor. I just want to say I'm so grateful to everyone who was involved, from those in the courtroom to those outside, including the police department. And I want to thank them and in closing, I want to say we can all be safer. I'm going to do my part. I hope everyone else will do their part too. Thank you so much.”

Timberlake was pulled over in Sag Harbor on June 18.Number According to court documents, the incident occurred after he failed to stop at a stop sign and failed to maintain his lane.

The suspect reportedly told arresting officers he had “one martini and followed his friends home.”

Additionally, Timberlake refused to submit to three Breathalyzer tests, and officers noticed he had bloodshot eyes, smelled of alcohol and was unable to speak properly, according to court documents.

He initially pleaded not guilty to DUI but agreed to a plea deal on Friday. His driver's license was suspended during last month's hearing.
