Jutta Lierdam Wins Silver at 2026 Winter Olympics

Dutch speed skater Jutta Lierdam, who is engaged to boxer Jake Paul, clinched her second medal during the 2026 Winter Olympics on Sunday. She earned a silver medal in the women’s 500 meters, finishing just behind fellow Dutch skater Femke Kok, who took home the gold. Kok set a new Olympic record with a remarkable time of 36.49 seconds. Lierdam clocked in at 37.15 seconds, which was actually Kok’s best time leading up to the race.

In addition, Japanese skater Miho Takagi secured the bronze medal with a time of 37.27 seconds. Unfortunately for the United States, no American athletes made it onto the podium for this event. Erin Jackson, who won gold at the 2022 Beijing Games, finished fifth in 37.32 seconds.

Jake Paul was present at the race, rooting for Lierdam, and expressed surprise when she initially recorded the fastest time.

This was Lierdam’s first medal in these Olympics. She had also placed second in last year’s World Championships for the 500 meters.

Earlier in the competition, Lierdam won gold in the 1,000 meters event, setting an Olympic record of 1 minute 12.31 seconds—surpassing the previous record held by Kok.

So far, the Netherlands has amassed a total of 11 medals in this Olympic season, with just one week remaining to secure even more wins.
