A boy fatally shot an intruder of an armed house over the weekend, Kentucky police I said.
State police said they received a call before 4:30am on Saturday regarding the shooting in Manchester, about 170 miles southeast of Louisville.
“I hope the child doesn't have any guilt or any kind of trauma. They got what they deserve.”
Manchester police responded to the scene, finding the two individuals who were shot and killed, adding that Manchester police had requested provincial police assistance in investigating the shooting.
The troopers arrived and determined that the two men found the shots and forced them into the residence with the intention of stealing a firearm from the safe, state police said.
During the break-in, a juvenile resident of the house discovered the break-in and saw them holding a firearm, state police said.
The boy, acting in self-defense, retrieved his handgun and shot both men before fleeing through the bedroom window, state police said.
The two men who were later shot and killed were identified as 51-year-old Jeffrey M. Allen and 44-year-old Roger D. Smith, according to state police.
Allen of Manchester was declared dead at the scene, state police added that emergency medical services had taken Mackey's Smith to affect Health Manchester, but he also died.
The Clay County Coroner asserted that both men were dead, state police added that medical inspectors should have an autopsy Monday.
State police also said Detective Logan Gay was leading the investigation.
Authorities did not disclose the boy's age or gender.
