Kacey Musgraves Yells 'F**k' 'Loser' Christopher Columbus During Onstage Rant: 'We Dislike You'

Kacey Musgraves Criticizes Christopher Columbus During Concert

During a concert on Sunday, country singer Kacey Musgraves didn’t hold back in her criticism of Christopher Columbus, labeling the Italian explorer a “loser.” She remarked, “We hate you,” igniting a spirited response from the audience.

Footage that has gone viral shows Musgraves expressing confusion about the holiday, asking fans, “Wait, it’s Columbus Day?” to which they quickly responded with “Indigenous Peoples Day!”

Musgraves continued her rant, saying, “Obviously fuck Columbus. Literally the lamest person to probably ever exist. Like, for real. What a loser.” She reiterated, “Christopher Columbus, we hate you.”

While Columbus Day is a federal holiday that honors Christopher Columbus, it has historically been a celebration of Italian-American heritage and the contributions of Italians to the United States.

As noted, the holiday’s origins relate to efforts aimed at addressing racism faced by Italian immigrants when they first came to America, as they experienced various forms of discrimination, including violence.

Reactions on social media have been swift. One user noted that Musgraves seemed unaware that if it weren’t for Columbus, her very existence might be in question. Other comments echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that Columbus played a role in establishing the environment in which Musgraves can perform today.

Another critic argued that Musgraves, rather than bashing Columbus, should recognize the historical significance of the figure and the struggles of Italians in America.

One person sarcastically commented that it’s puzzling Musgraves would seek validation by insulting someone who’s been deceased for over 500 years.

In a related appearance, Musgraves introduced James Talarico, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Texas, at a festival just a day prior to her Columbus comments, highlighting her engagement in political discussions.

The singer has recently found herself in a public disagreement with Kristi Noem, the Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas. In response to Noem’s political preferences, Musgraves countered by saying Noem shouldn’t be involved in their debate at all.

Previously, Musgraves made headlines for a unique “gender reveal” at one of her concerts, prompting parents to consider honoring their child’s identity if it diverged from the gender assigned at birth. This has raised eyebrows and discussions about contemporary parenting choices.
