Kadarius Toney didn’t let a healthy injury keep him from enjoying the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 2024 victory on his favorite social media platform.
The controversial former Giants host broadcast a celebration live from the locker room after Kansas City’s 25-22 overtime win over the 49ers on Sunday night.
Toney, wearing sunglasses, a red hoodie and a championship T-shirt, wandered around the locker room after he and the Chiefs clinched their second consecutive championship with an overtime victory.
The Florida native appeared to be enjoying the celebration, smiling and walking up to his shirtless teammate, exclaiming, “He owes you all.”
The 25-year-old then caught three passes for 20 yards and a touchdown before heading to fellow receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s locker, posing for a photo with a cigar. I headed there.
“…I’m going crazy,” Tony yelled. “I need to put his hat next to me…”
Eventually, several teammates joined the live stream.
One player said, “It doesn’t matter what we do. We can’t tolerate that.”
Another teammate said: Please tell me there’s one more thing. Please tell me there’s one more thing. ”
Although Toney lived it up after the win, he couldn’t help his teammates repeat as champions to cap off a strange end to a season for the former first-round pick.
That came one year after he helped the Chiefs beat the Eagles in the 2023 Super Bowl, scoring a touchdown and recording the longest punt return in Super Bowl history with a 65-yard punt return.
Toney did not play in the game against the 49ers despite coming off the injury report and announced over two weeks ago that he would not play in the AFC Championship game due to a hip injury and personal reasons. He apparently accused the Chiefs of lying about his health.
He last played in Week 15.
“I’m not hurt. Nothing like that. Save that. S–k my d–k too,” Tony said on Instagram Live. “I’m not hurt. None of that. From my hip to my ankle, and from there to there.”
Toney then oddly stated that it was Giants fans, not the Chiefs, that he was actually targeting during his rant.
“It felt like I was attacking the person I love the most,” Toney told reporters on “Opening Night” ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl. “I never attacked the Chiefs. I never said anything about the Chiefs.
“I was referring to Giants fans, people who would come to my live recordings. I was referring to them, but I shouldn’t have.”
Toney is currently in an important offseason. Because his late-season antics could end up pushing him to the Chiefs for good.
The Giants traded him away after drafting him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and the Chiefs just proved they don’t need his help to win a Super Bowl.
The most memorable moments of his season were a drop in Week 1 that cost him the opening game against the Lions, and an offsides call that nullified his go-ahead touchdown against the Bills in December. .
Toney had 27 catches for 169 yards and one touchdown last season.
