Kai Trump Makes LPGA Tour Debut
Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, made her debut on the LPGA Tour at The Annika event in Bellaire, Florida, on Thursday. She finished the day with a score of 13-over par 83, placing her last among 108 competitors. The round began with four consecutive bogeys, followed by nine more bogeys and two double bogeys, leaving her without a birdie.
Reflecting on her performance, she admitted to feeling more nervous than she anticipated. “I thought I hit a lot of great shots,” she noted, adding, “I hit a lot of good shots in bad spots.”
Even with the disappointing finish, Kai described the overall experience as “pretty cool.” She expressed that it was thrilling to play alongside some of the best in the sport. “I know I hit it far, but I was literally able to be right there or even pass them on some holes, so it felt pretty good,” she remarked. She feels her game is strong, particularly as she approaches graduation from high school.
Her mother, Vanessa, mentioned that she had shared some advice with Kai leading up to the tournament. Remarkably, a golfing legend also reached out. “He’s the best golfer in the whole world,” she said. “He told me to go out and have fun and go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.”
Kai has grown her presence on social media, particularly on YouTube, where she recently shared a video of playing golf with her grandfather at Trump National Golf Club in D.C. and attending the Ryder Cup together. “I don’t think of him as the president. I think of him as my grandfather,” she shared. “We play golf all the time. It’s nothing new.”
Looking ahead, she has set her sights on becoming a professional golfer. “I want to do my best to achieve that goal,” she concluded.
